Romanticizing Life Inspired by Books and Films

Deborah Salvodon

“I believe the nicest and sweestest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string.”

Anne Shirley

I don’t know about you, but on a cold, stormy, or frosty day I love to cozy up under a warm blanket and read an excellent book that transports you into another world or watch an enjoyable movie that has you so intrigued by the storyline on what is to happen next. Even though our world now seems cruel and life is challenging, it is very much still worth living, and there is always something lovely in it. As of now, I often think of my life as a movie or a fairytale book. I have started to emphasize living in the moment and appreciating life’s simple joys. There is no mystery secret to romanticizing life. It is just about observing the world with added fascination and enthusiastically being captivated by your everyday life.

What is romanticizing, you may ask? Romanticizing your life is an elegant way of expressing you taking tedious, daily tasks and making them extraordinary and beautiful. I highly recommend starting to romanticize your life. Because if you don’t, life itself will appear dull and stagnant. And all the little things in life that make it so attractive will continue to go overlooked. So, where you are, take a second glance around and appreciate that it’s a blessing for you to be here right now and even the people you are with.

11 Simple Ways to Romanticize Life (:

  1. Enjoy and admire the weather; however, it may be outside your very window.
  2. Of course, you can get dressed for no apparent particular reason, which I do every day.
  3. In my humble opinion, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so make your simple breakfast look charming by adding decorative plating with a touch of a lovely flower(s) of your choosing.
  4. Reading a new or favorite book can bring such warmth and comfort to your heart
  5. However, the weather permits, run outside to dance or play by yourself, with others, or even with your furry friend. This may be totally out of your comfort zone or make you appear to be crazy, but for me, it is absolutely one of my favorite things to do.
  6. Going on a walk or organizing a picnic is the effortless adventure you need to gain perspective of the beauty of nature around you.
  7. Basking in the sunset during the evening will surely put a smile on your face.
  8. Spending time and cherishing moments shared with your loved ones will guarantee to give you a boost of serotonin, like going out for coffee with a friend.
  9. Ending your evening by completing your skincare routine while winding down in a candlelit room provides you complete and total relaxation.
  10. Write a heartfelt letter to someone special in your life. Preferentially, in a journal, writing down what you’re thankful for in general or daily helps you live a life of gratefulness.
  11. What could be better than blasting your favorite songs and having your own dance party at home choreographed by a talented genius yourself?
